I have been training here for 9 months. I was specially looking for a school to learn WKF style Sparring.
What I found was more than I could imagine. Sensei Alex is genuine and take time to help with your technique.
Additionally, he is an World Renown Kumite Champion, so what you are learning from him are techniques that work.
I was also looking for a place to train that had other students at my skill level and age, I am 30 at the time of this post and he has several students training for what I am training for. If you are looking start karate, improve karate, get a good work out, teach your kids discipline, then seriously this is the school for you. Come check it out!
By far the best dojo here in Texas, Sensei Alex has pushed me beyond my limits to become the best Karate fighter I have ever been, inside the dojo and out.
Sensei Alex is a fantastic instructor and patient with the kids. My son has a lot of respect for him and loves coming to class.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH ALEX AS A KARATE TEACHER
I have been training with Alex 2-3 times a week for about 5 years. I first trained with Alex in a Kumite class he offers at a YMCA, and based on that experience I subsequently began to take private lessons twice a week with him.
MY PERSONAL REASONS FOR TRAINING WITH ALEX
Alex respects my hard work and attitude. He does not judge me by my ability or rate at which I progress.
ALEX’S TEACHING AND COACHING SKILLS
Alex’s teaching style is very mature. By that I mean his style does not involve shaming or unreasonable expectations but rather calm and persistent coaching in the pursuit of improving Kihon and Kata. He has a keen sense for knowing when to apply encouragement and when to relax coaching pressure.
ALEX’S SKILLS IN KARATE
Alex’s area of expertise is Kumite. As I trained with him in his Kumite class it became clear to me, that as result of his training and thoughtful analysis, he had a fully developed mental model of Kumite training, from novice to a karateka knowledgeable in Kumite. I have found him to be and outstanding coach in Kata and Kihon as well. He has a keen eye for evaluating techniques, and a good sense of how to improve the techniques, as well as the ability to keep track of progress over months and years.
IN SUMMARY
I value my time very highly. That is why I intend to continue training with Alex throughout my karate career.
